BLM Rangeland Management Specialists - Coming Soon!

Bureau of Land Management · Wyoming · posted today

U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Rangeland Management Specialists | GS-5 through GS-11 Permanent • Full-Time • Multiple Locations The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will soon be advertising permanent Rangeland Management Specialist positions (GS-5 through GS-11) at multiple locations across the West. If you're interested in rangeland management, livestock grazing, wildlife habitat, vegetation management, natural resources, and public lands, this is an opportunity to build a long-term career managing some of the nation's most iconic landscapes. What will you do? BLM Rangeland Management Specialists work at the intersection of science, land management, people, and policy. Depending on the position and location, work may include: • Managing livestock grazing on public lands • Conducting rangeland and vegetation monitoring • Evaluating rangeland health and ecological conditions • Working with ranchers, grazing permittees, and local communities • Managing wildlife habitat and other natural-resource values • Developing and implementing rangeland management plans and projects • Using GIS, data, and other technology to support land-management decisions • Working with interdisciplinary teams on complex natural-resource issues • Spending significant time in the field on public lands The work is a combination of fieldwork, science, collaboration, analysis, and resource management. Some days may be spent in the field evaluating vegetation and grazing conditions; other days may involve analyzing data, working with partners, or developing management recommendations. Who should consider applying? We are interested in reaching students, recent graduates, and experienced natural-resource professionals who meet the federal qualification requirements for the 0454 Rangeland Management Specialist series. Your degree does not necessarily have to be titled "Rangeland Management." Depending on your coursework and experience, degrees in related natural-resource fields may qualify. Positions are expected to be advertised at GS-5 through GS-11, providing opportunities for individuals at different stages of their careers. Why BLM? A career with BLM provides the opportunity to work directly on America's public lands while building a career in natural-resource management. BLM employees work across some of the most diverse landscapes in the country and collaborate with ranchers, communities, Tribes, other agencies, conservation organizations, and the public to manage these lands for multiple uses and sustained resource health. This isn't just a summer job or internship—these are permanent positions with opportunities to build a career in public-land management. Coming Soon — Start Preparing Now The vacancy announcement is expected to be open for a limited period, potentially as little as 14 days. If you're interested, we encourage you to start preparing your application materials now rather than waiting for the announcement to open. Once the announcement is posted, applicants will need to apply through USAJOBS and meet the specific qualification and application requirements listed in the vacancy announcement. Questions or Need Help Preparing? Please feel free to contact me before the announcement opens. I am happy to answer questions about the positions, the BLM work environment, the application process, or how to prepare for a federal application. If you're a student or recent graduate and aren't sure whether your education or experience may qualify for the 0454 series, please reach out. I would rather have you ask questions ahead of time than decide not to apply because you're unsure whether you qualify. Contact: Johanna Kramer Bureau of Land Management jkramer@blm.gov 307-522-8127 The USAJOBS announcement and application link will be shared as soon as the positions are posted.
