Doctoral Student - Coastal Wetland Ecology and Biogeochemistry

University of South Carolina, School of the Earth, Ocean, and Environment · South Carolina · assistantship · posted today

I am recruiting applicants to join my lab (https://sc.edu/study/colleges_schools/artsandsciences/earth_ocean_and_environment/our_people/directory/costa_matthew.php) at the University of South Carolina as a doctoral student.  I work at the Baruch Marine Field Lab (https://northinlet.sc.edu/baruch-marine-field-lab/), located at the North Inlet-Winyah Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Georgetown, SC.  I am part of the School of the Earth, Ocean, and Environment (https://sc.edu/study/colleges_schools/artsandsciences/earth_ocean_and_environment/index.php) at USC, though a potential student may be able if preferred to enroll in another related department, such as Biological Sciences. I study the ecology and biogeochemistry of salt marshes and other coastal and nearshore environments and the response of these systems to environmental change, over past millennia and in the 21stcentury.  If you want to develop a research career in these topics and to get covered in mud while doing it, you have found the right place!  Please fill out the following form by the end of October 2026: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe2XChN7KWAfp7nXugcPBzqumnwAQCOWSK35GGyiXFGHPYAhw/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=102588466798182082994.
