The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife seeks to hire a total of 10 Creel Clerks (Natural Resources Technicians) for an upcoming creel survey of the Ohio River. The Ohio River creel survey occurs every five years and is designed to monitor long-term trends in angler use of Ohio River fisheries. Duties: Interview and count Ohio River anglers at popular access points to obtain effort, catch, harvest and human dimensions information. Location: Each position will be responsible for surveying one Ohio River pool bordering Ohio and will be headquartered in one of three Ohio Division of Wildlife Management Districts: Wildlife District 3, Akron, OH • Positions available: 2-3 • River Pools: Pike Island (Jefferson County), Hannibal (Belmont County) Wildlife District 4, Athens, OH • Positions available: 3-4 • River Pools: Willow Island (Monroe County), Belleville (Washington County), Racine (Meigs County), R.C. Byrd (Meigs/Gallia County), Greenup (Gallia/Lawrence County) Wildlife District 5, Xenia OH • Positions available: 2-3 • River Pools: Meldahl (Scioto County), Markland (Clermont County) Duration: Five positions will begin January 1st and end October 20th, 2027 and five positions will begin March 12th and end December 31st, 2027 Qualifications: Ability to interact with the public, willingness to work outdoors in inclement weather, and proficient at identifying sport fish; interest in fishing, conservation, or fisheries management would be helpful; have a reliable vehicle for traveling between working locations (mileage will be reimbursed); must have a valid drivers license. Work Hours: Approximately 30-40 hrs/week; 6 weekend and 8 weekdays per month. Shifts: All work shifts will either be from sunrise to 1:30 PM or 1:30 PM to sunset. Pay Rate: $20.05/hr.
