The Siders Aquatic Ecology Lab at the University of Cincinnati is seeking applicants for a Laboratory Manager. The lab conducts research in a variety of aquatic ecosystems including streams and wetlands, and studies a broad range of topics such as food web ecology and biogeochemical cycling. Primary duties include assisting with data collection in the field and lab, macroinvertebrate and water chemistry sample processing, maintenance of field and lab instruments, and some supervision of undergraduate workers. Cincinnati is a vibrant, affordable Midwestern city nestled along the Ohio River and has a thriving food and arts scene. The city blends big-city amenities with a welcoming, livable atmosphere. The area offers scenic river trails and parks along with easy access to the rolling hills of Ohio and Kentucky's natural landscapes. Duration: 2 years with the possibility for an extension Salary: $45,000 - $48,000/yr + benefits Start date: January 2027, somewhat flexible Required qualifications: •Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field •Must be comfortable working in and around water, and under adverse conditions such as heat, cold, and with biting insects. •Must have a valid driver's license •Ability to process aquatic macroinvertebrate samples over extended periods •Attention to detail and safety standards •Experience using and maintaining multi-probes and aquatic data loggers •Willingness to make as-needed overnight trips to field sites, lodging/food will be covered •Data entry Desired qualifications: •Aquatic macroinvertebrate identification skills •Analytical chemistry and use of nutrient auto-analyzers •Fish identification skills To apply, email the following to Dr. Adam Siders (adam.siders@uc.edu) in a single PDF with email subject line “Lab Manager – (Last Name).
