Ph.D. Graduate Assistantship in Aquaculture Economics and Marketing A Ph.D. graduate assistantship is available beginning Spring 2027 in the Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management at Texas A&M University under the supervision of Dr. Shraddha Hegde. The student will pursue a Ph.D. in Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, with research focused on aquaculture economics and seafood marketing. Research The student will work on a seafood marketing project examining U.S. consumer preferences and purchasing behavior for domestic farm-raised seafood. Research will focus on identifying consumer segments with strong preferences for domestic farm-raised seafood and examining consumer information sources, values, and retail decision-making to inform effective marketing strategies for U.S. aquaculture producers. The student will gain experience in survey research, quantitative and econometric analysis, manuscript preparation, and conference presentations. Qualifications Applicants should have: • A thesis-based master's degree in Agricultural Economics, Applied Economics, Marketing, Fisheries/Aquaculture, or a related field • Minimum GPA of 3.0 • Research experience • Interest in quantitative analysis, consumer research, and seafood/aquaculture marketing • Students with knowledge of U.S. aquaculture industry are preferred Experience with econometrics, agricultural or food marketing, seafood/aquaculture research, academic writing, or conference presentations is preferred. We are particularly interested in applicants who are curious, proactive, enthusiastic about research, and willing to learn. Assistantship The position provides a $24,000 annual stipend, full tuition support, and funding for three years. Health insurance benefits are available according to university policy. The student may serve as a Teaching Assistant for one to two semesters as part of their teaching and professional development.
