The Dallas lab at University of South Carolina is looking for PhD researchers to begin Spring 2027 or Fall 2027. The researcher will use a combination of microcosm experiments, existing data, and theoretical simulation to explore fluctuating population dynamics in an experimental flour beetle system. We also have funding to explore patterns of host-parasite associations using a global database of host-helminth interactions if that is more your speed. So population, community, and disease ecology. I do not have funding to encourage fieldwork, but collaborate regularly with researchers in the department through which a field project is possible (e.g., Josh Stone, Eric LoPresti). Ideal applicants would be curious and have some existing experience in programming in R, python, or julia (but this is not required). Please see the lab website to get a feel for what we do (https://taddallas.github.io/) and reach out with any questions (tdallas@mailbox.sc.edu). To apply, pass along a CV and a short description of what you want to get out of graduate school. Information on our program here (https://sc.edu/study/colleges_schools/graduate_school/apply/degree_programs-application-requirements/biological-sciences-phd/). Cheers, Tad
