Graduate student in the Fisheries and Movement Ecology Lab and Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences at Louisiana State University. We are looking for a highly motivated and independent PhD student to begin in Spring 2027 (or potentially Summer 2027). Project will examine connectivity (and habitat use) of marine fishes at outer shelf ecosystems of the Gulf, including the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary. Qualifications • B.S. in biology, marine biology/science, wildlife and fisheries, ecology, oceanography, conservation, or related field • Strong interest in fisheries, marine ecosystems, and ecology • Strong preference will be given to individuals with experience with vessel operation, fishing, and offshore environments • Positive attitude and ability to work independently and collaboratively Preferred Qualifications • M.S. in biology, marine biology/science, wildlife and fisheries, ecology, oceanography, conservation, or related field • SCUBA experience • Experience with fish tagging Application Instructions Interested applicants should contact Dr. Michael Dance (mdance1@lsu.edu) and include: • A brief statement of research interests (1 page) • CV (including GPA and relevant experience) • Unofficial transcripts • Contact information for 2–3 references Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
