Powdermill Nature Reserve will be hosting an AmeriCorps Environmental Stewardship position focusing on providing environmental education and outreach that contributes to the understanding and protection of Pennsylvania’s biodiversity. Additionally, the member will engage volunteers and community members in science activities, as well as communicate scientific information that promotes environmental literacy and stewardship. The member will also conduct biodiversity surveys, data collection, and other monitoring activities that inform conservation initiatives of local ecosystems. Experience with identification of birds by sight and sound is preferred in addition to at least one of the following: identification of eastern flora or fauna (insects, salamanders, shrubs, or trees), bird banding, GIS software, molecular laboratory techniques, and/or science communication. One 900-hour contract position available- approximately 37 hours per week. Service term is February 2027 through August 2027. Bi-weekly living stipend of $955, free housing on-site, and Education Award.
