Hello! The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) at University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) is accepting applications for admission to our research-based MS and PhD programs starting in fall 2027. Our research spans the many different subdisciplines of EEB including behavior, conservation, ecophysiology, evolution (biological, cultural, and social), ecosystem ecology, global change, and systematics. Admitted graduate students are fully funded (with annual renewal subject to satisfactory performance and progress) through teaching assistantships that cover tuition, fees, and an annual pay of $28,134. A number of our students in past cohorts have also won competitive university-level and college-level fellowships that supplement the teaching assistantship. The application deadline is Dec 1 2026. We invite interested applicants to explore our website (https://eeb.utk.edu/graduate-students/applying-to-grad-school/) for more information about our graduate programs and application requirements. A list of faculty members who are actively recruiting students for admission and their research interests/exemplar research questions is provided here (https://eeb.utk.edu/exemplar-research-questions/). Candidates need to make direct contact with potential faculty mentors prior to applying. If you have any questions about the application process, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Xingli Giam (Chair of Graduate Admissions) at xgiam@utk.edu. Sincerely, Graduate Admissions Committee Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, UTK
