MS Assistantship K-State Fisheries and Extension

Kansas State University · Kansas · posted today

Kansas State University is seeking a highly motivated student for the pursuit of a Master of Science degree starting in the spring or summer of 2027. The successful student will conduct research under the advisement of Dr. Joe Gerken in the Department of Horticulture and Natural Resources. The specific research area will be tailored to meet student and lab goals but will be broadly focused on Great Plains Fisheries, Fisheries Extension, Cyanobacteria, or human/wildlife conflict in aquaculture. The project will include strong extension components including regular collaborations with faculty and state agency personnel to create a variety of fish and wildlife extension materials. Interested individuals should email a CV and a separate cover letter outlining their research interests, career goals, and thoughts on the value of Extension in science. As part of your cover letter, please include something fun about yourself, share a brief example of how you approached a challenge or disagreement while working with others, and why you are specifically interested in joining our lab. Submissions should be sent as two files (CV and Cover Letter) to Joe Gerken (gerkenje@ksu.edu) with the subject line as “ K-STATE FISHERIES GRA”. You can also email any time with questions!
