The Center for Wildlife Sustainability Research at Southern Illinois University is seeking 2 seasonal technicians to help with a Northern Bobwhite research project at Burning Star State Fish and Wildlife Area (located near Carbondale, Illinois). The position will start on January 18, 2027 and will end on April 2, 2027. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to capture quail using funnel traps, attach transmitters to them, and track them via VHF radio-telemetry. Applicants should be comfortable beginning work before sunrise, setting traps in the dark, working in cold conditions, hiking through thorny vegetation, and operating ATVs. Pay is $15/hour and work weeks are typically 37.5 hours. Housing is not provided. Qualifications: 1.      A positive attitude and ability to work independently 2.      Ability to work in difficult field conditions, including snow and cold temperatures 3.      Ability to hike in difficult terrain 4.      Previous experience capturing and banding birds is preferred but not required 5.      Previous experience with radio-telemetry is preferred but not required 6.      A valid driver’s license
