Job Title: Wildlife Technician 1/2 Position#: 00100750 Job Location: Urban Wildlife Program – Game Management – Game Management Administration Job Responsibilities: Under broad supervision, provide technical assistance to the public, local governments, homeowners' associations, and similar stakeholders regarding wildlife management and resolving human-wildlife conflict in urban and suburban Metro-Atlanta. Assist in data collection on a variety of wildlife research projects in and around Metro-Atlanta. Assist with urban deer management activities for interested local governments and HOAs. Provide remote and onsite technical assistance to resolve human-wildlife conflicts in Metro-Atlanta. Capture, relocate, or euthanize conflict or injured/sick wildlife in accordance with DNR policy (must be comfortable handling and discharging firearms). Onsite response to mitigate conflicts with big game (turkey, deer, black bear) and protected species. Participate in 24/7 rotating on-call system as emergency point of contact for Metro-Atlanta wildlife emergencies that exceed the scope of commercial nuisance wildlife control officers. Conduct and attend education and outreach events regarding urban/suburban wildlife management. ***Work Unit Location: Successful candidate must reside within one of the following counties: Gwinnett, Forsyth, Fulton, Cobb Minimum Qualifications: Wildlife Technician 1: High school diploma or GED AND one year work experience in natural resource management or related trade skills. Wildlife Technician 2: Associates degree or equivalent coursework (90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours) in Wildlife Management or a related field from an accredited college or university. OR High school diploma or GED AND two years of experience in the Wildlife Resources Division as a Wildlife Technician 1 (NRT010) or position equivalent.
