The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is Hiring a Fish Biologist! This position serves as the Lead Fish Biologist for Interagency and International Support (IIS) projects, providing expert fisheries and aquatic-resource support for habitat evaluations, harbors and Area of Concern sampling, invasive carp monitoring, telemetry, ecosystem restoration, and other civil works activities. Responsibilities include developing sampling plans, managing project budgets and schedules, leading field investigations, analyzing and interpreting biological data, preparing technical reports and recommendations, and coordinating project activities with internal teams, partner agencies, stakeholders, and international collaborators. Provides fisheries expertise and consultation on fish-specific issues associated with environmental impact investigations and directs studies addressing potential effects of civil works projects on aquatic resources. Guides and mentors interns, new biologists, and project staff in field sampling, fish identification, safe and effective operation of field equipment, and data-analysis software. Develops and delivers technical presentations to agency personnel, stakeholders, and the public and prepares scientific manuscripts for potential publication in peer-reviewed journals.
